Price: $3/cubic ft. for softwood or $5/cubic ft. for hardwood
Description:
Flanagan and Sun is now able to provide firewood for your campfires or woodburning appliance. We offer softer woods such as pine, poplar, and basswood for campfires and kindling, as well as hardwoods such as oak, maple, birch, and hop hornbeam (ironwood) for a more serious fire.
All of the wood comes from the owner’s self-managed property. The wood comes from dead-standing trees, blow-downs, and from trees that had to be taken down anyway (e.g. dying tree presented a danger). No healthy trees are cut solely for the purpose of making firewood.
Wood is a renewable resource, and while the burning of wood does release carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, the tree would release the same amount of carbon dioxide if it was left to rot in the forest. Also, when a new tree is allowed to replace the dead tree, it will absorb the carbon dioxide back as the tree grows.
Firewood can also be purchased by the cord, but there is a limited amount each year, due to the observance of proper forest management.
