Les Shulman
I am Les Shulman and I am a senior epidemiologist at Toronto Public Health. I live in Toronto with my wife and two children.
As one part of my plan to save energy, I decided to build my own solar thermal collector. I took a course through Flanagan and Sun held at the Kinark Outdoor Centre in order to help me through the process. At the end of the one day workshop, I had built my own 4' x 4' solar collector.
I am planning to hook the collector up to my house in downtown Toronto in the Spring of '08. I want to save energy by pre-heating my domestic hot water with energy from the sun.
Saving energy is important to me because the less energy we use, the less energy we have to generate. Most conventional means of generating energy are very bad for our planet.
The course I took was very good. The instructor, Sean Flanagan was very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions thoroughly.
